As a second-generation refugee of the Cambodian Genocide, my understanding of my heritage is fragmented by distance, time, and language. Through this collection of family photographs, data, and personal testimonies, I am interested in recreating their story and exploring the ways in which their encounters with violence and diaspora have shaped my upbringing. Piecing together this history of trauma and healing, I use my work to illustrate the resilience of an immigrant family and those who share similar stories.
